Springhill equestrian complex
Evanne Chesson is a legendary horse master and animal trainer. She has been in the film industry since she was twenty, receiving the AFI Byron Kennedy Award in 1993. She stands as the only horse master to be awarded an industry accolade.
Evanne contacted us wanting a multipurpose equestrian complex that included an indoor arena and a cover over her round yards. The buildings needed to match into existing historical infrastructure on the property in Springhill, Victoria.

Challenges and solutions
We worked with Evanne to design the equestrian complex to tie in with the historic buildings on her property. This included increasing the roof pitch and choosing a traditional Colorbond cladding option.
The indoor arena needed to be designed wider than a competition sized dressage arena to accommodate carriage riding. We increased the width of the indoor arena to 30m and included our Equinarail kickrail system on three sides. The fourth side was left fully open to allow carriage riders to ride outdoors as well as the surface exteneds outside.
