Winterwood Farm indoor dressage arena
Project overview
When the unpredictability of weather conditions was causing an increasing loss of training time, the owners of Winterwood Farm decided it was time to invest in an indoor dressage arena.
Already having a full-sized outdoor arena, the client approached us to supply a roof-only indoor dressage arena cover to be built over their existing arena with one enclosed end for extra weather protection. Our client would then organise the installation of the building with a third-party installer. The building needed to be engineered for snow loading.

Challenges and solutions
As the dressage arena cover was to be built over an existing outdoor arena, we needed to make sure the design would work with the layout of the arena. One of the gates to the arena was placed where a column would typically be installed. To prevent obstructing this gate, we included a header beam in the roof design to eliminate this column. This allowed the existing gate to still be used.
